Obituary for Leon Jay Brandt

Leon Jay Brandt , 67, of Bitely, passed away on April 23, 2020 in Bitely, Michigan. He was born on May 11, 1952 to Merritte and Sarah (Smith) Brandt in Fremont, Michigan. He graduated from Walkerville High School in 1971. On February 26, 1977 he married Donna Heath in Fremont, Michigan. He was a member of the North-Newaygo Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Leon was an active member of Jehovah's Witnesses and spent many hours talking to the public, family, and friends about how the Bible gives us guidance and hope. He loved farming and raising animals. He knew the personality and name of each animal including the ones that were raised for meat.Leon is survived by his wife Donna; four daughters: Melody (Cameron) Turney of Sparta, Fawn Brandt of Sparta, Angela Brandt of Sparta, Heidi (Jeffrey) Zobka of Saginaw; two sons: Leon (Erica) Brandt II of Marcellus, Titus Brandt of Bitely; three granddaughters: Katelynn Brandt, Brooklyn Brandt, Lilly Brandt; grandson Maverick Brandt; four sisters: Virginia Winchel, Audrey Smith, Betty (Roger) Briggs, Marcella Homfeld; three brothers: Arthur (Peggy) Brandt, Merritt Brandt, LeRoy (Patricia) Brandt; many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Anna Stone, Mary Mooney, Lucy Kulesza, and Alice Brandt; and his brothers: Leo Maynard, Carl Maynard, Orval Maynard, and Cleon Brandt.
