A coffin is an old fashioned casket.  It is narrow at the feet and head and has a wide area for the shoulders.   It is usually a small, basic structure but can be very ornate.  This is a reproduction that someone made and used in a practical joke during the late 1960's.   They buried it in a local farmers field and the coroner had to come and dig it up.

Baskets like this one were used to remove the unembalmed body from it's place of death.  The One-Man removal cot replaced this awkward item.

This portable viewing couch and back stand was used to view the body at the home.  Having the body at the home for the Visitation and Funeral was common practice even as late as the mid 1960's in some parts of the country.

This set of candles was used at McKinley Funeral Homes from the early 1900's until the 1960's.  The set includes a matching pair of kneeling rails and a matching set of candles with 2 exchangeable candle holders.
