Mrs. Lila Mae Sheldon, Age 89 of Newaygo, formerly of Grant, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 near Fremont.  She was born Lila Mae Brown in Grant, Michigan the daughter of Flossie (Spinks) and George Brown on July 8, 1921.  She will be remembered for her love of family, her independent hard working personality, and the true friendships that she made throughout her lifetime.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her “grand cats”.  Lila was a beautiful knitter and the “Best Pie Maker in Newaygo County!”  She was a waitress for Senecal's, the A&W, Johnny's, Northstar Café, and Valley Inn Restaurants until her retirement.  She participated in the Newaygo United Methodist Women's Groups. Survived by her daughter Marian & Ken Schimnoski of Paw Paw, her son‑in‑law Art Westcott of Newaygo, 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her son Jim Sheldon of Seoul, Korea in 2007, her daughter Judy Westcott of Newaygo in 2008, and her parents and three siblings.  Memorial services will be held at later date.  For memorials please consider the Newaygo County Animal Shelter.
