Mr. Russell L. Thompson, Sr., Age 77 of Grant, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 in Fremont.  He was born Russell L. Thompson, Sr. in Trent, Michigan the son of Lola Bell (King) and Leo Wesley Thompson on January 23, 1933. He married Natilie Jean Hall on June 14, 1951 in Bailey. He was a truck driver for Bull’s Moon Lake Orchards, Bailey until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of Ashland Center Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife Natilie Thompson of Grant, his children Diana & Richard Portell of Grant, Vanessa & Bob Edwards of Comstock Park, Russell, Jr. & Dawn Thompson of Casnovia, Norma & Steve Jordan of Bailey, Leon & Terrie Thompson of Kent City, 14 grandchildren, 26 great granchildren, his sisters Lois & Todd Johnson of Newaygo, Edith & Steve Elsenheimer of Grant.  He was preceded in death by 4 grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Grant United Church of Christ on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 with Mr. Jonathan Greene officiating.  Interment in Seaman Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Tuesday at McKinley Funeral Home, Grant.  For memorials please consider the Ashland Center Church of Christ.
