
Mr. John Mouthaan, aged 86 of Kent City, died Friday, October 16, 2009
at his home. He was born John Mouthaan September 26, 1923 in Kent City,
the son of Jesse (Puite) and John Mouthaan. He married Dorothy I.
Osburn October 5, 1951 in Grant and she preceded him in death July 13,
1991. John was employed as a Foreman for Lamar Pipe Co. in Grand Rapids
for 30 years retiring in 1986. He was a member and very active of the
Grant Reformed Church where he served as Elder, Deacon, Sunday School
teacher and was President of the Northern Michigan Classis. John was a
veteran of World War II having served from June 12, 1945 until January
30, 1947 being discharged as a CPL.
John is survived by his children
Ken & Faith Mouthaan, Gerald & Paula Mouthaan all of Kent City, Carol &
Kevin Newton of Muskegon and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at
the Grant Reformed Church with Pastor Mik Sutton officiating. Military
graveside honors under the auspices of the VFW Post #4249 of Newaygo
will be at the Hillside Cemetery near Grant following the church
services. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday at the McKinley
