Mr. John Plakmeyer, age 94 of Grant, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, February 24, 2009. He was born John Plakmeyer in Sunfield, the son of Dena (Strucker) and Timothy Plakmeyer on March 21, 1914. He married Grace Geers on October 19, 1939 in Grant and she preceded him in death on July 13, 1999. He was a self-employed Vegetable Farmer for 50 years until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of Grant Christian Reformed Church.

He is survived by his children Wayne Plakmeyer & wife Jeannie Schuman of Louisville, CO, Kenneth & Jan Plakmeyer of Grant, Diane & Al Zoet of Sand Lake, Denise Plakmeyer & husband Jack Vliet of Bellaire, Phil & Laurie Plakmeyer of Grant, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, his sister Jeanette Honderd of Jenison.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Grant Christian Reformed Church, on Friday, February 27, 2009 with Pastor Lucas Rodenhouse officiating. Committal at 2:00 PM at the Hillside Cemetery near Grant. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday at the Church. For Memorials please consider the Grant Christian Reformed Church Memorial Fund.
