Mr. Richard V. Sanford, aged 55, of Morley died suddenly at home Wednesday, August 5, 2009.  He was born Richard Veston Sanford December 24, 1953 in Fremont, the son of Hilda May (Weeks) and Ralph Veston Johnson.  Richard was a self-employed carpenter until his health forced his retirement after 30 years in 2004.  He was a member of the Ealges Club and served his nation in the Marine Corps from July 7, 1971 until July 27, 1973.  He married Sheryl Ann Parker August 23, 1986 in White Cloud.

He is survived by his wife Sheryl, his sons Daniel Sanford of Arizona and Michael Sanford of Grand Rapids, his mother Hilda M. Cooper of Big Rapids, his sister Judith & Nicholas Green of Stanwood, his brothers Michael & Pamela Sanford and Jim & Sara Cooper all of Newaygo and several nieces & newphews.

Graveside memorial services will be held at the Stanwood Cemetery at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2009.

The family was served by the McKinley Funeral Home in Newaygo.
