Mrs. Karen S. La Rock, aged 52 of Kent City went to be with her Lord late
Sunday night at her home. She was born Karen Sue Gilbert April 1, 1956 in Big
Rapids the daughter of Barbara Elaine (Elliott) and Max Jasper Gilbert. She
married James Edward La Rock on June 12, 1976 in Big Rapids and was a member
of the Solon Center Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by her husband James, her children Tammy & Douglas Van Houten,
Jeromy & Melissa La Rock all of Kent City, her mother Barbara Gilbert of
Arizona, grandparents David & Sylvia Elliott of North Carolina, her brothers
and sister Rosemary & Bruce Ray of Arizona, Bruce Gilbert of Tennessee, George
& Ruth Anne Gilbert, Tom & Dawn Gilbert all of Big Rapids, Brian & Luz Gilbert
of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her father Max Gilbert.
Funeral Service will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the Solon Center Wesleyan Church with Pastor Doug DiBell officiating. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday at the church and 2-4 PM Wednesday prior to the service. For memorials be consider the “Make a Wish Foundation”.
