Mr. Willard O. Starr, age 85 of Newaygo, died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at his home in Croton Township. He was born Willard Owen Starr in Morley, Michigan the son of Minnie Grace (Smith) and William Starr on September 21, 1922. He married Bertha Doreen Hanson on March 31, 1945 in Morley. He was a Supervisor for Consumers Energy until 1983 retiring after 29 years. He was a member of Bethal Lutheran Church, Howard City, a member of Croton American Legion Post #381 and the Sand Lake VFW Post. He was a veteran having served in the Navy during World War II from October 28, 1942 to November 3, 1945 when he was discharged as a ARM 1st Class.

He is survived by his wife Bertha Starr, his son Michael & Connie Starr, his daughter Dawn Starr all of Newaygo, his grandchildren Dawn, Shawn, Michael Jr, Chad, Aaron, William, 9 great-grandchildren & 1 great-great-granddaughter.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday July 12, 2008 from the Croton American Legion Post #381 with Rev. Richard Starr officiating.. There will be no visitation.
