Mr. Melvin Junior Freeland, age 86 of Casnovia, died Saturday, May 10, 2008 in Walker. He was born Melvin Junior Freeland in Casnovia Twp, Muskegon Co., Michigan the son of Amber W. (Collins) and Melvin E. Freeland on April 16, 1922. He married Evelyn Martha Mattson on November 21, 1945 in Kent City, Michigan and she preceded him in death on September 6, 2006 . He was a self employed Farmer until his retirement. He was a member of Kent City Baptist Church.  He is survived by his daughter Karen & Duane English of Jenison, daughter Janet & Rich Knust of Grandville, daughter Wanda & Terry Long of Kent City, son Dale & Sharon Freeland of Portage, son Dennis & Michelle Freeland of Newaygo, daughter in law Doris Freeland of St. Joseph, daughter Patricia & Dave Eary of Cedar Springs, son David & Michelle Freeland of Cedar Springs,  19 grandchildren,  14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Kent City Baptist Church, Kent City on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 with Pastor Chris Weeks officiating. Interment in Seaman Cemetery. Visitation 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Tuesday at the McKinley Funeral Home, Grant. For memorials please consider the Kent City Baptist Church Building Fund.
