Mr. John Robert Mouthaan, Age 82 of Grant, Michigan died Friday, April 25, 2008 in Muskegon. He was born John Robert Mouthaan in Grant, Michigan the son of Sadie (Bierema) and Henry Mouthaan on April 05, 1926. He married Evelyn Mae Woltjer on July 31, 1947 in Grant, Michigan. He was a veteran having served in the Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II from July 25, 1944 to August 16, 1946 when he was discharged as a PFC. He worked at Sparta Foundry, then was an assembler at American Seating in the 1950’s, and was a farmer all his life until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of Grant Christian Reformed Church and V.F.W. Post $4249 in Newaygo. He was a former Newaygo County Commissioner from 1980-1984.  He is survived by his wife Evelyn Mouthaan of Grant; his daughters Debra & Carl Schuitema of Kent City; Jane & Wayne Chandler of Ravenna; his granddaughter Christina Chandler; his sisters MayReta & John Tibbe of Grant; Virginia Shook of Phoenix, AZ; Audrey & Walter Hodgkinson of Chicago; Emily & Morley Brummel of Fremont; several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brother Paul Henry Mouthaan in 1958.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Grant Christian Reformed Church on Monday, April 28, 2008 with Pastor Lucas Rodenhouse officiating. Interment in Hillside Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Sunday 6-8 pm. For memorials please consider the Harbor Hospice-Poppen House in Muskegon.
