He was born Harvey Jay Young in Wilkensburg, Pennsylvania the son of Nancy Josephine (McGogney) and Einsel Robert Young on January 29, 1918. He married Norma Jean Goodwin on July 18, 1998 in Newaygo and she preceded him in death on . He was a truck driver for Allied Van Lines, El Paso until . He was a member of Newaygo United Methodist Church. He was a member of Scottish Rite-Valley of Coscoses; Shrine Ballut Abyad, New Mexico; VFW Post #4249; Newaygo Masonic Lodge; . He was a veteran having served in the Army during World War II from December 10, 1945 to December 28, 1946 when he was discharged as a Corporal. He is survived by his children Robert J. & Yvonne Young of Newaygo; Margaret & John Backer of Yucaipa, CA; Thomas & Micki Young of Ojai, CA; step Son William R. & Paula Clouser of Westover, PA; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held from the Newaygo United Methodist Church, Newaygo at a later date.
