Mr. James H. Longcore, age 85 of Fremont, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Transitional Health Services near Fremont. He was born James Henry Longcore in Kent City, the son of Hattie J. (Landheer) and Bert Eugene Longcore on February 24, 1922. He married Helen Louise Schuiling on May 28, 1948 in Sand Lake and she preceded him in death on June 4, 1994. He then married Bertha Jean Hathaway Pratt on April 14, 2004 in Fremont. He was a Machinist for Continental Motors, Muskegon until 1982 after 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Newaygo. He was a member of UAW Local.
He is survived by his wife Bertha Longcore, his children James Longcore of Fremont, David & Joan Longcore of Wyoming, Randall Longcore of Tucson, AZ, Janet Longcore of Cedar Springs, stepsons Tim Pratt & Jennifer, Tom & Carol Pratt all of Grant, 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, sister Anna Marie VanderHagg of Grand Rapids. He was also preceded in death by granddaughters Amanda & Amy, daughter Nancy and daughter-in-law Janet.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the McKinley Newaygo Chapel, on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 with Pastor Wesley Smith officiating. Interment will be in Chubbuck-Pinewood Cemetery near Kent City. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 6-8 P. M. Tuesday. For Memorials please consider the First Baptist Church of Newaygo Building Fund. Bert, So sorry to hear of your husbands death, just when it seemed you had began to find happiness again. My thoughts and Prayers will be with you, during this sorrowful time. Aunt Bertha sorry about Jim i been working everyday just to keep myself busy;do not know if i will make it to the funeral or not but my Ma and Dad made it to the funeral home;tell Tim and Tom i said hi!
