Mr. Maurice L. Cochrane,
age 97 of Shelbyville, TN, and formerly of Kent City, died Saturday, October 21,
2006 in Shelbyville. He was born Maurice Leroy Cochrane in Ensley Twp, MI the
son of Alice Victoria (Cushman) and Samuel Leroy Cochrane on September 10, 1909.
He married Lucille D. Brydges on August 9, 1936 in Casnovia Twp, Michigan and
she preceded him in death on August 22, 2003. He was Superintendent for Kent
City Community Schools until his retirement. He was a member of Kent City
Baptist Church. He graduated from Sand Lake High School, Western Michigan
University with a BS degree, and the University of Michigan with a Masters
degree. He was a member of Michigan Education Assoc.; Michigan School
Administrators Assoc.. He was a veteran having served in the Army during World
War II from July 17, 1942 to June 7, 1946 when he was discharged as a Captain.
He is survived by his son Norman & Judy Cochrane of Shelbyville, TN, 2
grandsons Kevin & Sharon Cochrane and Brian & Kelly Cochrane, 5
great-grandchildren Drew, Anna, A.J., Wilson & Riley Cochrane.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M from the Kent City Baptist
Church, on Saturday, October 28, 2006 with Mr. Michael Cochrane officiating.
Interment will be in the Ashland Center Cemetery near Grant. Visitation will be
held 2-5 & 7-9 P. M. Friday at the McKinley Funeral Home-Grant Chapel. In Lieu

Fund.
