Mr. Henry Clair Rowe, age 90 of Newaygo, died Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. He was born Henry Clair Rowe in Newaygo, the son of Della Mae (Minthorn) of Lake City and Joseph Henry Rowe, founder of Henry Rowe Manufacturing Company in Newaygo, on February 14, 1916. He graduated from Newaygo High School in 1935 and attended Ferris Institute. He married Dorothy Elizabeth Hartmann on December 21, 1940 in Fremont. He was a President/Owner for Henry Rowe Manufacturing Co., Newaygo until 1967. He was a member of Newaygo United Methodist Church. He was a veteran having served in the Navy during World War II from October 19, 1942 to November 5, 1945 when he was discharged as a Yeoman Third Class.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Rowe, his children Sandra Thomas of Greenville, Joseph & Susan Rowe of Webster, NY, Jane & John VanderStel of Grand Rapids, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sister Norma Jend of Bloomfield Hills.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M from the McKinley Newaygo Chapel, on Monday, November 27, 2006 with Pastor Pat Bromberek officiating. Interment will be in the Newaygo Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 P. M. Sunday. For Memorials please consider the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
