Mrs. Evelyn M. Freeland, age 79 of Casnovia, died Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at her home in Casnovia Township. She was born Evelyn Martha Mattson in Kent City, the daughter of Martha Sophia (Nelson) and Edward Mattson on September 11, 1926. She married Melvin Freeland, Jr. on November 21, 1945 in Kent City. She was a Homemaker all her life. She was a very active member of Kent City Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 53 years.

She is survived by her husband Melvin Freeland, Jr., her children Karen & Duane English of Jenison, Janet & Richard Knust of Grandville, Wanda & Terry Long of Kent City, Dale & Sharon Freeland of Portage, Dennis & Michelle Freeland of Newaygo, Doris Freeland of Casnovia, Patricia & Dave Eary of Cedar Springs, David & Michelle Freeland of Cedar Springs, 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, her sister Doris & Brink Bolthouse of Clarksville, her brother Herbert & Bonnie Mattson of Grand Rapids, her sisters-in-law Ivah Mattson of Kent City, Georgianna & LaVern Blocher of Cedar Springs, Lillian Mattson of Muskegon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Kent City Baptist Church, on Saturday, September 9, 2006 with Pastor Chris Weeks officiating. Interment will be in the Seaman Cemetery near Bailey.
