Mrs. Ruth A. Bowers, age 79 of Grant, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at her residence in Grant Township. She was born Ruth Arta Hudson in Barnard, Kansas the daughter of Ivah (Rice) and D. S. Hudson on December 1, 1925. She was a Design Sewer for General Motors Fischer Body #2, Grand Rapids for 30+ years until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of Grant United Church of Christ. She was active with the Commission on Aging and the Foster Grandparent Program in Newaygo County.

She is survived by her daughters Cherry Bowers of Grant, Janice & Bill Entsminger of Muskegon, Joyce & David Mayo of Sparta, her grandchildren Christopher & Tanya Bowers, Jonathan Mayo & Fiancée Tracy Koster, Rebecca Mayo, Pamela & Richard Lynema, Scott Entsminger, Tina & Kelly French, 10 great-grandchildren, her sisters Marion Gates of Kentwood, Margery Bierens of Kalamazoo, Myrna Beimers of Battle Creek, her special friend Sylvia Petersen, numerous nieces & nephews. She also leaves behind a wonderful support group of Senior visitors from the Commission on aging and Foster Grandparent Program. A special thanks also to the caring folks from Hospice of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her former husband Red Bowers.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P. M. from the McKinley Grant Chapel, on Sunday, July 17, 2005 with Pastor Vernon LeFeber officiating. Visitation will be held 2-3 P. M. Sunday until service time. For memorials please consider Commission on Aging, Foster Grandparent Program and/or Hospice of Michigan.
