Mr. Richard Hilbrand, age 76 of Grant died Thursday, February 10, 2005 at his residence in Grant Township. He was born Richard Hilbrand in Grant the son of Sena (Shoemaker) and Henry D. Hilbrand on May 10, 1928. He married Lois Jean Deur on June 24, 1953 in Fremont, Michigan. He was a HiLo Driver for Lamar Inc. and also was employed at the Grant Public Schools until his retirement in the 1990's. He was a member of Grant Christian Reformed Church. He was a veteran having served in the Army during the Korean War from January 16, 1951 to March 11, 1953 when he was discharged as a PFC (T).  

He is survived by his Wife Lois J. Hilbrand, his children Loralyn & Randy Holt of Fairmont, IL; Roger & Micky Hilbrand of Grant; Jim & Sandy Hilbrand of Grant; Steve & Jo Ellen Hilbrand of Grant; Mary & Glen McGorman of Grant; Carol & Phil Meeuwenberg of Fremont; 20 Grandchildren; 21 Great Granchildren his sisters Dorothy Scholtens of Grant; Johanna & Alfred Wolters of Kent City; his brothers Henry & Bernie Hilbrand of Hudsonville; Simon & Sharon Hilbrand of Grant; Carl & Dixie Hilbrand of Grant; Don & Joan Hilbrand of Grant; his Sisters in Law Bonnie Hilbrand of Grant and Fredith Hilbrand of Byron Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M from the Grant Christian Reformed Church on Saturday, February 12, 2005 with Rev. Lucas Rodenhouse & Rev. Case Van Wyk officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery near Grant. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 P. M. Friday at Grant Christian Reformed Church. For Memorials please consider the Grant Christian School and/or Grant Christian Reformed Church Building Fund.
