Gerald M. Tanis, age 72, of Newaygo went home to be with the glory of his Lord on July 8, 2005.   He was born Gerald M. Tanis in Reeman, Michigan the son of Anna  (Kloet)  and Edd  Tanis on July 12, 1932.  He married Joan Arleen Alderink on July 18, 1957 in Allendale, Michigan.  He was Owner/Operator of Tanis Service in Fremont.  He was an Elder at Pine Grove Community Church.   Surviving are his wife Joan (Alderink), his children Pam and David Brown (Nicholas, Madison and Jacob), Rich and Mary Tanis (Travis, Hannah and Jacob); foster children Theresa and Doug LaSarge (3 children), Joy Shula (2 children), Sarena and Rich Johnson (3 children), Bobbi and Josh Sitter (2 children) and several others.  Also survived by his brother Marvin & Betty Tanis, two nephews and two nieces.  Funeral services will be held at Pine Grove Community Church at 11:00 AM Monday, July 11th, 2005.  Burial in Reeman Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Sunday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Pine Grove Family Life Center.  For memorials please consider the Pine Grove Family Life Center.  You may sign his online guest book at mckinleyfuneral.com.
