Mr. Allen J. Scholtens, age 56 of Wyoming, formerly of Grant, died suddenly Monday, May 23, 2005 at his home in Wyoming. He was born Allen Jay Scholtens in Grant, the son of Susanna Adrianna (DeVries) and Floris Scholtens on November 21, 1948. He was a Service Manager for Godwin Plumbing & Heating, Grand Rapids and former co-owner of the Grant Plumbing & Heating. He was a member of Fair Haven Ministries, Hudsonville, was former Mayor and City Commissioner for Grant, was an avid fisherman, bowler, golfer and loved to travel. Allen also served in the US Army in the Vietnam War and was discharged as a SP5 in 1972.

He is survived by his children Jamie & Nicole Jaroh, Todd Jaroh all of Jenison, Crystal & Time Jewett of Grand Rapids, his brothers & sisters Herman & Esther Scholtens of Grandville, Robert & Cindy Scholtens of Grant, Karen & Vincent Bradley of California, Calvin & Angela Scholtens of Howard City, Brenda & Ron Nelson of Fremont, and several nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M from the Grant Christian Reformed Church, on Saturday, May 28, 2005 with Pastor Gary VanKoevering officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery near Grant. Visitation will be held 7-9 P. M. Thursday and 2-4 & 7-9 P. M. Friday at the Grant Christian Reformed Church.
