Mrs. Ruth A. Powers, age 87 of Sand Lake, died Sunday, March 14, 2004 at her home near Sand Lake. She was born Ruth Avis Van Eeuwen in Grand Rapids Twp., Michigan the daughter of Avis Eliza (Parish) and William R. Van Eeuwen on December 14, 1916. She married John Etna Powers on November 24, 1936 in Grant, and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1989. She was a Homemaker all her life. She attended Heritage United Methodist Church, Pierson.

She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Trice) & Richard Page of Sand Lake, daughter-in-law Joan Beach of Rockford, son-in-law Kenneth Van Order of Holland, foster daughter Jacklyn Beagle, 11 grandchildren John & Ann Powers , Jamie & Jim Truba, Jim Powers & fiancée Mary Sweetland, Chris & Kirsten Page, Kathleen Casey, John & Diane Beck, Brenda Bawinkel, Suzanne & Kelly Lettrell, Kenneth Van Order, Scott & Dawn Van Order, Mark & Lisa Van Order, several great-grandchildren including Kelsey & Jack Powers, Nickolas Truba, Cameron & Jeremy Page & two soon to be born great-grandchildren, and her sister Ida Mae Clements of Chelsea, cousins, nieces, & nephews. She was preceded in death by son Jack Powers in 1974 and daughter Dorothy Mae Van Order in 1989.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M from the Heritage United Methodist Church-Pierson, on Thursday, March 18, 2004 with Pastor Thomas Ball officiating. Interment will be in the Crandall Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 P. M. Wednesday at the McKinley Grant Chapel.
