Mrs. L. Eileen Bonter, age 82 of Bailey, died Monday, July 12, 2004 at the Rest Haven Home in Grand Rapids. She was born Loa Eileen Detwiler in Bailey, the daughter of Hazel Gertude (Barnum) and Glenn W. Detwiler on December 11, 1921. She married Vernon Clifford Bonter on April 15, 1940 in Kent City, and he preceded her in death on May 2, 1989. She was a Homemaker all her life, a member of Bailey Gospel Chapel, served Casnovia Township as Assessor for a few years.

She is survived by her children Robert & Char Bonter of Bailey, Steve & Brenda Bonter of Newaygo, Loa Jean Bonter of Bailey, Dianne & Donald Wright of Ocala, FL, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, Her brother & sisters Willard & Shirley Detwiler of Beaver Island, Violet & Dick Deur of Newaygo, Mary & Keith Wamser of Sparta, Esther & Frank Austin of Bailey. She also preceded in death by grandson Matthew Bonter 1998.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A M from the McKinley Grant Chapel, on Friday, July 16, 2004 with Pastor David Marvin officiating. Interment will be in the Seaman Cemetery near Bailey. Visitation will be held 7-9 P. M. Thursday.
