Geraldine (Jerry) Longwood, age 84 of Newaygo died Monday, September 20, 2004 at Transitional Health Services of Fremont. She was born Geraldine Louise Tift in Croton Township, the daughter of Mabel (Shattuck) and Harold Tift, on September 11, 1920. She married Alvin Laverne Longwood on November 24, 1938 in Scottville, Michigan and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1969.
Al and Jerry owned and managed several businesses throughout their marriage, including the Red and White Grocery Store in Rockford, Tift’s Corners in Croton Township, Longwood’s Restaurant and The Valley Inn Hotel in Newaygo. Jerry was the founder of Crawdaddy’s Restaurant after Al’s death.
She is survived by her daughter, Lavonne (Bonnie) and William Hubbard, her grandson Alfred (Fritz) and Alison Hubbard of Bozeman, MT, her grandson Jonathan (Jon) and Britta Hubbard of Bozeman, MT, her sisters Jean Holler of Newaygo and Iris Davidson of Grant.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday September 25, 2004 at Newaygo County Sportsmans Club, 7951 Elm Ave, Newaygo.
