Mr. Floris Scholtens, age 88 of Grant, died Thursday, February 5, 2004 at Fountain View Retirement Village in Grant. He was born Floris Scholtens in Chicago, Illinois the son of Gertie (Dykema) and Simon Scholtens on December 14, 1915. He married Susanna Adrianna DeVries on September 5, 1941 in Grant, and she preceded him in death on April 14, 1999. He was a Master Plumber owner & operator for Grant Plumbing & Heating until 1977. He was a member of Grant Christian Reformed Church. He was also Owner of Tri County Tire and was a Vegetable Farmer 1945-1954.

He is survived by his children Herman & Esther Scholtens of Grandville, Allen Scholtens of Wyoming, Robert & Cynthia Scholtens of Grant, Karen & Vince Bradley of Encinitas, CA, Calvin & Angela Scholtens of Howard City, Brenda & Ron Nelson of Fremont, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Kathryn Wolfsen of Grant, Helen Tibbe of Cedar Springs, and brother-in-law Henry Geers of Grant.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A M from the Grant Christian Reformed Church, on Saturday, February 7, 2004 with Pastor Case Van Wyk officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery near Grant. Visitation will be held 7-9 P. M. Friday at the McKinley Grant Chapel. For memorials please consider the Grant Christian Reformed Church.
