Mr. Richard Edgar Schmidt, age 63 of Newaygo, died Sunday, December 12, 2004 at his home.    He was born Richard Edgar Schmidt in Saginaw, the son of Marion (DeLong) and Wilford Schmidt on February 5, 1941. He married Virginia Lee Sutton on December 23, 1983 in Wyoming, Michigan. He was a Welder/Millwright for Gerard Steel and more recently Hope Network until his retirement June 11, 1999.

He is survived by his Wife Virginia Schmidt of Newaygo, his sons Raymond & Patricia Sutton of Comstock Park, Joseph Sobers of Newaygo, Mark & Christina Schmidt of Newaygo, 6 grandchildren, his mother Marion Schnell of Alpena, his brothers Gary & Alanna Schnell of  OH, Paul & Yzonne Schnell of Alpena, his mother In law Chloe Hunt of Wyoming, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister Lois Pryce.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Grant Assembly of God, on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 with Pastor David Andrew officiating. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Tuesday at McKinley Newaygo Chapel. For Memorials please consider the Grant Assembly of God.
