Olive E. Robey,. aged 98, of Newaygo died, peacefully, early Wednesday morning at St. Mary's Health Services in Grand Rapids. She was born Olive Esther Christenson August 16, 1904 in Newaygo, the daughter of Anna (Nelson) and Nels Christenson. She married Leigh L. Robey June 20, 1929 and he preceded her in death September 12, 1971. She was a 3rd grade teacher at the Newaygo Public Schools for 19 years retiring in 1969. Mrs Robey was a member of Newaygo United Methodist Church, a life member of the Eastern Star Unity #61 of Newaygo and White Cloud, a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. She is survived by her daughter Joanne and Morey Butler of Howard City, her grandsons Stephen and Bonnie Butler and their daughters Brianna and Brittney Butler (great-granddaughters) all of Kent City, Kevin and Diane Butler of Jenison and their family Kevin and Rachelle Butler II of Rockford (great grandson) and their family Madison and Kameren Butler (great-great grandchildren); Benjamin and Kate Butler of Rockford (great grandson) and their family Ashtin, Jacob and Alexander (great-great-grandchildren) and David and Catherine Butler and their family Stephanie and Joshua Butler of Jenison, her brother-in-law Raymond Cole of Sun City Center, FL and several nieces and nephews. Her entire family, joined hands around her bed, and led by Pastor Spahr, recited the Lords Prayer in celebration of Grandma Olive's departure to her eternal home. Funeral services will be held at ll:00 A.M., Saturday, May 17, 2003 at the Newaygo United Methodist Church with Pastor Sandra L. Spahr officiating. Visitation: 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the McKinley Newaygo Chapel. In lieu of flowers please consider the Olive E. Robey Scholarship Fund from Newaygo Public Schools. |
