Mr. Edward C. Van Horn, age 89 of Grant, died Monday, December 22, 2003 at Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. He was born Edward Christian Van Horn in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Jennie (Staal) and Peter Van Horn on January 11, 1914. He married Julia DeWeerd on May 29, 1936 in Hudsonville, Michigan and she preceded him in death on May 1, 1990. He was a self-employed Vegetable Farmer for 43 years until 1979. He was a member of Grant Reformed Church, was a former Fire Chief of Ashland-Grant Fire Department, and was a former Village President of Grant in the 1950's.

He is survived by his daughters Janet & Earl Wolff of Grant, Mary Ellen Van Horn of White Cloud, his sister-in-law Emma DeWeerd, and brother-in-law Clarence DeWeerd both of Coopersville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A M from the Grant Reformed Church, on Saturday, December 27, 2003 with Pastor James Karsten officiating. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery in Grant. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 P. M. Friday at the McKinley Grant Chapel. For Memorials please consider the Grant Reformed Church Building Fund.
