Mrs. Jennie Overkamp age 94 of Newaygo, Michigan died Wednesday July 03, 2002 at
Newaygo Medical Care Facility, Fremont, MI. She was born Jennie Den Hartog in
Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Peternelle (De Haan) and Gerrit Den Hartog on July 09,
1907. She married Harry Overkamp on April 17, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois and he preceded
her in death on October 30, 1983. She was a Homemaker all her life. She was a member
of Newaygo Order of Eastern Star Unity #61.
She is survived by her children Martin Overkamp of White Cloud, MI, Gerrit Overkamp of
Newaygo, MI, Clarence & Clara Overkamp of Nunica, MI, Shirley Schooley of Newaygo, MI,
23 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren & 7 great-greatgrandchildren,
her sisters-in-law Nellie Den Hartog of Lansing, IL and Evelyn Overkamp of
North Muskegon, MI, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
4 brothers & 5 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P. M. from the McKinley Newaygo Chapel, on Monday,
July 08, 2002 with Rev. John Moser officiating. Interment will be in the Newaygo Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 P. M. Sunday. For memorials please consider the
Newaygo Order of Eastern Star Unity #61.
